Umrah & Hajj Badal

This is performing pilgrimage by proxy. In other words, it is to do it for the sake of a person.

Some people are unable to go to pilgrimage either because they are very ill or because they have passed away. Therefore, a third person can perform this act of prayer on their behalf.

Performing Umrah and/or Hajj on behalf of disabled or deceased persons is carried out through a group of students of Juridical Sciences (Talab al-‘Ilm) at Saudi universities.

They are recruited through our local partner. The recruitment of these candidates is done through a very precise set of specifications. Each recruitment is preceded by tests and individual interviews.

During the performance of Umrah or Hajj by proxy, the geographical location of the students performing Umrah or Hajj by proxy is determined and their location is monitored during each rite.

The time frame for pilgrimage application can vary from 10 to 45 days (except during Ramadan and Hajj).

To perform the pilgrimage « by proxy », you must indicate the name of the person in question as well as the name of his/her father.

For example : You want to perform Umrah by proxy for your deceased father. Your father’s name was Muhammad and your grandfather’s name was Selman. When you arrive at Makkah, the pilgrim performing Umrah for your father will recite the following prayer :

labbayka Allahumma ‘Omra ‘an Muhammad ibn Selmân
This means, « Allah, I answer your call by performing an Umrah for Muhammad, the son of Selman »

If you do not know your grandfather’s name, your father’s name and surname will suffice, Inshallah.

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas : A woman from the tribe of Juhaina came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, , “My mother had vowed to perform Hajj but she died before performing it. May I perform Hajj on my mother’s behalf ?” The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, “Perform Hajj on her behalf. Had there been a debt on your mother, would you have paid it or not ? So, pay Allah’s debt as He has more right to be paid.”
